Monaco Grand Prix is the first GP of the year to make use of Pirelli’s new Ultrasoft tyre, the purple-marked tyre has proven to be high in demand amongst the teams ahead of its debut in Monaco in two weeks time.
Both Mercedes and Red Bull have elected to take ten sets of the new compound per car, with two sets of the re-marked supersoft and a solitary set of the yellow marked softs. Ferrari have one les set of ultrasofts and one more set of the softs than their rivals.
Williams have taken a more conservative approach with just seven sets of the ultrasofts, four sets of the supersofts and two sets of softs. Force India and Toro Rosso have also elected for seven sets of ultrasofts, but have gone for three sets of both the supersofts and softs.
McLaren again have opted for fewer ultrasofts in favour of more supersofts. They have five sets of the red-marked compound; the most of any team alongside Manor, who have the fewest number of ultrasofts available to them.
Saber, like Williams, have four sets of supersofts but eight sets of the ultrasofts. Haas will be taking nine sets of ultrasofts like Ferrari, but have one more set of supersofts that their guardian team.
The only team with split ideas between the twi sides of the garage is Renault. Kevin Magnussen has the same tyres available to him as Mercedes and Red Bull, whereas Jolson Palmer has the same as haas.
